Project Based Learning 
 Reading about project based learning reminded me of the projects we used to make in the previous years in different subjects. Now I have a clear idea of the reason why we did those projects and their importance. I remember a project in biology and we were divided in pairs and had to construct a body cell with all its parts.The teacher left us free choice about how to construct it and what materials to use. My friend and I chose to make it with plasticine . Still today I have in my mind the steps we followed to design it and the colors used according to each organelle in order to make it as real as possible.
 During all the time when we were preparing it I was motivated and wanted to see how it would look like in the end. In every step we made when constructing it, we had a look at the book seeing different pictures in order to make it like the one in the textbook. It was not only the image that got stuck in my brain but also the terms, the names of all the organelles, their position in the cell. We also had to look at their color, their structure and to measure carefully their size.
 Through all the process of the project I came to know better my classmate, we were both engaged and collaborated with each other discussing our ideas. I enjoyed all the process and we were the ones to make the choices,learned and worked together. At the final phase we did the presentation which helped us a lot with our communication skills and public speaking skills.
 I decided to show all the benefits of project -based learning through an example. I think a real life example illustrates better than a theoretical explanation.
 To conclude I am listing some of the elements of project-based learning which I find important:

  • Project based learning is all about the process .(learning through doing)
  • PBL promotes student collaboration 
  • Increases student engagement ( they enjoy working in those projects)
  • PBL involves critical thinking
  • Helps not only memorization but also learning in-depth  about a certain concept 
  • Involves student choice in design
  • Includes peer and self assessment (students active in assessment)

    Your example was very interesting, and i found your closure a good summary of what you had pointed above. I am really enthusiastic about this approach as you have explained in your post that through PBL you had the opportunity to better know your friends, i hope this approach will be very helpful to our students.

      Yes Arjola I think some school projects have the advantages of project based learning. That's why I have explained it with the example of the creation of a human cell in biology class.

    I like the fact that you have stated how you project in Biology helped you and you friend to construct knowledge and that's what PBL does.I agree with all the elements of PBL that you have stated in the end.
